ATH08_058_IrwinK_TVolleyball Earns Sweep at West Liberty
     10/02/09...Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had 10 kills and four block assists to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 3-0 WVIAC sweep at West Liberty (WV) University, Friday night.  The victory snapped a three-match losing streak and moved Pitt-Johnstown to 3-11 overall and 1-6 in the WVIAC.
     The Lady Cats defeated West Liberty 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.
     Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) collected seven kills, two block solos, two block assists and a service ace, while Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added five kills, three block solos and a pair of block assists.
     Head Coach Linda Renzi also got 13 assists and six digs from Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) and 12 assists and five digs from Taylor King (York, Pa.).  Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) lead Pitt-Johnstown with seven digs.  Lauren Pennewill (Dallastown, Pa.) chipped in six digs and two service aces in the win.
     With the loss, West Liberty fell to 2-12 overall and 0-5 in the WVIAC.
     The Lady Cats will host a non-conference match against Mount Aloysius College on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center, before traveling to Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University for a WVIAC match on Thursday.
