vs. Penn State-DuBois - 10/03/09

     10/03/09...Diana Harrison (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored two goals in an attack that saw nine Lady Cats find the back of the net in a 10-1 non-conference victory over visititing Penn State-DuBois, Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Lady Cats improved to 6-5-0.
     Pitt-Johnstown scored 10 first half goals and cruised to the lopsided victory.  Lindsey Plowman (Apollo, Pa.) opened the scoring off of Lindsey Roessler's (Chalfont, Pa.) cross in the sixth minute, before Plowman returned the favor and assisted on Roessler's goal three minutes.
     The Lady Cats got goals from Lauren Penn (Plum, Pa.), Brittney Miller (Slippery Rock, Pa.), Gena Pentz (Johnstown, Pa.) and Alicia Zack (Irwin, Pa.) in a span of less than three minutes to increase the lead to 6-0 with 16 minutes left in the first half.
     Pitt-Johnstown then got a pair of goals from Harrison and single goals from Alissa Falcone (Murrysville, Pa.) and Elizabeth Webb (Johnstown, Pa.) to close out the first half scoring with a 10-0 advantage.
     Penn State-DuBois got on the scoreboard in the 60th minute when Lauren Laughner scored unassisted on a shot from outside the box that got by Pitt-Johnstown goalkeeper Aubrey Mauger (North Huntingdon, Pa.).
     Victoria Der Vanik (Bridgeville, Pa.) and Mauger each play 45 minutes in goal for the Lady Cats, who out shot the Lions 39-5 and held a 20-4 advantage in shots on-goal.  Der Vanik earned the win and improved to 3-1-0.
     With the loss, Penn State-DuBois fell to 1-7-0.
     The Lady Cats will play their next four matches on the road, beginning at WVIAC rival Seton Hill University on Wednesday.  Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home match and celebrate Senior Day against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
