     09/22/09...Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had nine kills, one block solo and three block assists to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over Penn State-Altoona in Tuesday's 2009 home opener in the Sports Center.  With the win, Pitt-Johnstown snapped a three-match losing skid an improved to 2-8.
     The Lady Cats swept Penn State-Altoona 25-13, 25-14, 25-18.
     Along with Irwin, Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) had seven kills and three block assists, and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) added seven kills and 11 digs.  Taylor King (York, Pa.) collected 17 assists, three service aces and six digs, while Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) tallied 11 assists and seven digs.  Head Coach Linda Renzi also got a team-high 14 digs from Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) and a pair of block solos and four block assists from Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.).  Kayla Brandle (Johnstown, Pa.) chipped in a block solo and a block assist in the win.
     Penn State-Altoona fell to 7-9 on the season.
     The Lady Cats will host WVIAC matches against Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Friday at 6 p.m. and Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Friday and Saturday's matches will be played at Richland High School due to Pitt-Johnstown Homecoming activities in the Sports Center.
