vs. Westminster College - 09/12/09

Men's Soccer Falls 4-1 to Westminster
     09/12/09...Freshman Derik Swope (Harleysville, Pa.) scored his team-leading third goal of the year, but Westminster College netted three second half goals on its way to handing the Mountain Cat soccer team a 4-1 loss Saturday afternoon at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 2-3-0. 
     Westminster scored the first half's lone goal in the 33rd minute when Justin Flowers' header off of a corner kick got by Mountain Cat goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.).
     The Titans increased the lead to 2-0 on Jake Huey's goal two minutes into the second half, before Swope got Pitt-Johnstown on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute.  Swope took Tyler Aldinger's (Elizabethtown, Pa.) cross from outside the box and found the back of the net.
     However, Westminster added goals by Cody Hainsey in the 66th minute and Brice Lott one minute later to set the final score at 4-1.
     Neff made seven saves but gave up the first two goals in the loss to slip to 2-3-0.  Red-shirt freshman Mike Cuccaro (Pittsburgh, Pa.) surrendered the final two goals.  Westminster, which outshot Pitt-Johnstown 25-11, got four saves from Lance Leathers to raise its record to 3-2-0. 
     The Mountain Cats travel to Lake Erie (OH) College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, before traveling to Concord (WV) University on Saturday and the University of Charleston (WV) on Sunday, Sept. 20 for a pair of WVIAC matches.
