Pitt-Johnstown Wellness Fair

Article Body

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown will host a week-long Healthy Campus Wellness Fair.  The week, which will kick-off the wellness initiative for the academic year, will educate the Pitt-Johnstown community about the benefits of engaging in wellness-related activities.  Each day will highlight an activity or wellness event.  Students will be provided with opportunities to participate in a variety of wellness activities across the seven dimensions of the University’s wellness program.  The 7 Dimensions of Wellness focuses on intellectual; physical; social/cultural; environmental; occupational; spiritual, and emotional.

According to Theresa Horner, executive director, Health and Wellness Services, “The Healthy Campus initiative is a campus-wide program designed to address health and wellness issues using a multi-dimensional, comprehensive and holistic approach.  Resources, programs, and activities designed to support the campus community to optimally function across all dimensions of wellness will be available to faculty, staff, and students.  The Healthy Campus Initiative is a positive approach to healthy living that focuses on achieving balance throughout all aspects of life and maximizing individual potential.”

Sign-ups will be held for interest groups including smoking cessation; The Balanced Way; coping with migraines; stress management, and rape aggression defense.

The Wellness Fair is being sponsored by the Health and Wellness Service Office.  For additional details, call 269-7062, or visit: http://www.upj.pitt.edu/22212/.
