What you need to know about passports...
Passport processing is done at area Post Offices. Please bring the following with you:
1. A certified birth certificate with raised seal or naturalization papers. NOTE: Both parent's names must be listed on the certificate.
2. Photo ID. A current driver's license, a university ID or a military/government ID is acceptable.
3. A completed application (Form DS-11).
4. Two blank checks. (Cash or credit cards will not be accepted!)
The costs will be as follows:
Passport book and processing $135 for new and $110 for renewals.
Two passport-sized photos $15.
DS-11 applications can be downloaded at www.travel.state.gov/passport or obtained from any Post Office. Please be aware that original birth certificates must be presented for passport processing. Certificates of birth from hospitals will not be accepted. The cost of a birth record is $10.
It takes approximately 4-6 weeks to receive a passport so please plan accordingly. (Expedited service of $60 is available (plus $14.85 for return by express mail.)
Visas: Students who require Visas for study abroad must first apply for their passport. You will be assisted by your study abroad program regarding the processing of your Visa once your passport is received. You can research visa requirements for specific countries at the Department of State's international travel website.
