Quality of Engineering Technology Programs Reaffirmed

Article Body

It is with Mountain Cat pride that I announce the reaccreditation of Pitt-Johnstown's civil engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, and mechanical engineering technology programs by ABET, Inc.  ABET is the recognized accrediting body of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology.

My ongoing appreciation goes to all those who worked on the accreditation process, especially Dr. Jerry Samples, Ms. Beverly Withiam and members of the engineering technology division faculty.  I express my gratitude on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown community.

This is yet another example of exemplary work in preparing an extensive and comprehensive document that led to a most satisfactory outcome.  Receiving ABET accreditation is an affirmation of the quality of these engineering technology programs.

Dr. Jerry Samples, engineering technology chairperson, is also gratified by the accreditation.  He said, "We are extremely pleased that our programs continue to be accredited and have been continuously accredited since the founding of the programs in 1975."

Mountain Cat Proud!
