Men's Golf Picked 12th In WVIAC Poll

Mountain Cat men's golf team has been picked 12th in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Preseason Coaches Poll. Ohio Valley (WV) University grabbed five of nine first place votes to edge Concord (WV) University for the top position...

Ohio Valley, which won six of eleven events last season, welcomes back first team All-WVIAC honorees Paul Raines and J.R. Jones. Sean Burke grabbed all-region honors and Gavin Stirling notched honorable mention all-conference accolades.
The second place Mountain Lions took three first place votes. University of Charleston (WV) was third, while two-time defending champion Fairmont State (WV) University earned the final first place nod and finished fourth in the poll. Concord, a qualifier for last season's NCAA national finals, returns four key members of that squad. Honorable Mention All-American Emmanuel Charmat was the medalist at the Division II East/Northeast Regional. Concord's Ryan Terdik led the WVIAC with a 75.6 stroke average per round.
West Liberty (WV) University and West Virginia Wesleyan College are fifth and sixth, while Davis & Elkins (WV) College, Shepherd (WV) University, Bluefield State (WV) College, and West Virginia State University round out the top ten. Glenville State (WV) College,
Pitt-Johnstown
, and Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University complete the rating.
The 2009 WVIAC Men's Golf Championship is slated for October 19-21 at the Stonewall Resort's Palmer Course in Roanoke, WV.
