Mountain Cats Roll at Home, 82-58,

Head Coach Bob Rukavina and the Mountain Cat basketball team ended a five-game skid with a very impressive 82-58 home win over Bloomsburg University Saturday night in the Sports Center. Pitt Johnstown opened a 43-20 halftime lead and increased that lead to 34 points with 13:41 to play in the game, before going on to cruise to the 24-point victory.
Junior guard Steve Scorpion (Murrysville, Pa.) led five Mountain Cats who scored in double figures with 19 points on 7-9 shooting from the field and 3-5 shooting from behind the three-point line. Senior center Carlos Cogsdell (Homestead, Pa.) added 14 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Dwight Hines (Aliquippa, Pa.) and sophomore forward James Booker (Plum, Pa.) each tallied 13 points off of Coach Rukavina's bench. Hines and Booker combined to shoot 10-15 from the field, while Booker was also 5-6 from the free-throw line. Senior forward Paul Byer (Johnstown, Pa.) rounded out the Mountain Cat double-figure scorers with 12 points. Byer also grabbed six rebounds and senior guard Allen Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) pulled down a game-high seven rebounds. Junior guard Joey Tutchstone (Vandergrift, Pa.) dished out a game-high seven assists to help Pitt Johnstown even its overall record at 5-5.
The Mountain Cats dominated Bloomsburg from start to finish. Pitt Johsntown held the Huskies to just 20 points on 21.9% (7-32) shooting in the first half and 32.5% (25-77) shooting for the game, while Pitt Johnstown shot 59.4% (19-32) in the first half and 62.3% (33-53) for the game. Pitt Johsntown also knocked down 7-11 (62.6%) three-point field goals, compared to just 3-20 (15.0%) for Bloomsburg.
Bloomsburg, now 2-7 on the year, was led by Marion Rose's 14 points and John Owens' 13 points. Billy Bryan and Jeremiah Long each had six rebounds to pace the Huskies.
