Exam and Quiz Scanning
Information Systems provides prompt and efficient exam scoring services for faculty members using a NCS OpScan-3 scanner.
Faculty members needing exams scored fill out a Test Scanning Request Form. This indicates how the the exam should be scored. The request forms are available at Information Systems, 115 Biddle Hall.
Answer Sheet Forms:
Blank exam answer sheets are available in the IS office and are available in two different formats:
- 50 answer items on front with room for essay responses on the back
- 100 answer items on front with room for essay responses on the back
Test Scoring:
Answer sheets can be scored three different ways:
- Prints the correct answer next to incorrectly answered questions
- Prints an X next to incorrectly answered questions
- Provides total only when you don't want the wrong answer to be identified.
The total number of correct answers and total percent correct is also printed at the bottom of each answer sheet.
General Test Item Analysis Form:
This form is optional and is used to provide faculty members with information regarding:
- total number OR total percent of students
missing each question on a given exam.
It also lists the total number of students taking the exam, the average number and percent correct.
Other Special Reports:
Special reports can be provided by request. These reports are:
the Alpha Report which shows the student's name and score
the Posting Report which shows the last five digits of the Student ID number and score
Note: Students must fill in their ID number on the answer sheet in order for these reports to be generated.
Delivery of Results:
Staff members at Information Systems make every effort to scan exams promptly. Once exams have been scanned and ready to picked up, faculty members are notified by phone or e-mail.
Faculty members having an immediate need for exam results or other special requests should call or stop by the IS office. After-hours exam scanning requests can be accommodated - provided advance notice has been made.
