Everyone knows that the Mountain Cat is the official mascot of Pitt-Johnstown, right? What many might not know is how the mountain cat was chosen. We've released the never-before told tale of our Mountain Cat's rise to campus stardom.
The story starts more than 50 years ago, when a mountain cat was born in the Allegheny Mountains of western Pennsylvania. Its parents lived, of all places, in dense woods, which were also home to a beautiful college campus called the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown that sat in a clearing on the top of the mountain.
