Baseball Splits With Northwood to Open Spring Trip in Florida
     03/07/09...Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.)
collected four hits and four RBI to help the Mountain Cat baseball team split a doubleheader with Northwood (MI) University on Saturday to open the annual Spring Trip in Fort Pierce, FL.  Pitt-Johnstown, 5-1 on the year, suffered a 7-2 loss in game one, but earned the split with a 13-4 win in the nightcap.
     In the 7-2 loss, Hanley went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Matt Staub (Latrobe, Pa.) had a pair of hits in four at-bats.  Sophomore right-hander Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) fell to 0-1 after giving up three earned runs on seven hits in five innings.  Moore also struckout three and walked two.
      In game two, Hanley had two hits, including a double, and drove in three more runs in the Mountain Cats' 13-4 victory.  Matt Petrowsky (Johnstown, Pa.) went 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI, while Josh Campanella (Allison Park, Pa.) had three hits.  Staub earned the win on the mound.  Staub surrended three runs on five hits in five innings of work.
     The Mountain Cats will play a doubleheader against Mansfield University on Sunday, beginning at 8:45 a.m. in Fort Pierce, FL.
