Petrowsky Tabbed WVIAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week
02/18/09...Pitt-Johnstown senior shortstop Matt Petrowsky (Johnstown, Pa.) has been named WVIAC Baseball Co-Player of the Week with Concord (WV) University's Tim Merolillo after belting a pair of homeruns in the Mountain Cats' season-opening sweep over West Virginia State.
Petrowsky hammered a pair of two-run homers in his first two at-bats of the season in Pitt-Johnstown's 8-3 win over the Yellow Jackets in the opening game of a doubleheader at Johnstown's Point Stadium last Friday. Petrowsky reached base four times in seven at-bats in the doubleheader. He hit two homeruns and drove in four runs.
Merolillo recorded a .667 batting average (8-12) as Concord opened its season by winning three of four against regional foe Mansfield University. Merolillo homered, doubled, and racked up five RBI.
