A Vision of Greater Accountability for Institutional Effectiveness and Success
As the years passed, we further institutionalized our efforts to strengthen a culture of evidence and accountability. Recognizing the growing importance of assessment and accountability - post-Spellings Commission (http://www.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/hiedfuture/reports/final-report.pdf) - Pitt-Johnstown seized the moment and emerged as a leader in pursuing more effective ways to measure and account for institutional progress and effectiveness. Assessment data was more efficiently collected, analyzed, communicated and used to make improvements. Overall, we increased institutional accountability and effectiveness through rigorous planning, benchmarking, program evaluation and assessment, especially assessment of student-learning outcomes.
In 2014, our cumulative efforts are reflected in a more distinctive Pitt-Johnstown brand producing greater visibility, awareness and commendations, even as the higher educational environment has become more intensely competitive. We enjoy greater recognition and appeal through focused, consistent and distinctive positioning, as well as pervasive and integrated communications about Pitt-Johnstown’s mission, vision, goals and accomplishments. There is general acceptance that Pitt-Johnstown is an institution of great momentum and reputation that has progressively increased its competitive advantage over regional peers. We are well-recognized as a leading institution in preparing students for the highly competitive 21st century world – a leading college at the forefront of public and private baccalaureate colleges in the Northeast.
