Lady Cats Roll to 76-58 Win at Lock Haven
     12/30/08...Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) scored 17 points and Monae Baker (Bushkill, Pa.) added 16 points to lead the Lady Cat basketball team to a 76-58 victory at Lock Haven University, Tuesday night.  Pitt-Johnstown, which forced 38 Lady Eagle turnovers, made it three straight wins and improved to 4-5 on the season.
     The Lady Cats used a 17-6 run to climb out to a 20-9 lead with 6:50 left in the first half on Lindsay Cale's (Hummelstown, Pa.) layup.  Lock Haven battled back to cut the deficit to 24-19, but Pitt-Johnstown rebuilt the lead to eight points over the final three minutes to take a 30-22 halftime advantage.
     The Lady Cats extended the lead to 52-35 on Aden's made free-throws nine minutes into the second half, but the Lady Eagles answered with a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 54-47 with 7:00 to play.  However, the Lady Cats withstood the run and rasied the lead to 63-47 with just under six minutes left on the clock, before going on to the 18-point victory.
     Aden ended the night shooting 6-9 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line.  Aden also pulled down five rebounds and dished out three assists, while Baker shot 8-13 from the field and made six steals.  Cale rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15 points on 4-11 shooting and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line.  Head coach Sasha Palmer also got eight points apiece from Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) and Andrea Dalton (Washington, Pa.) and seven points, five rebounds, a game-high seven assists and six steals from Jamie Gennett (Davidsville, Pa.)Qiuana Brown (Monroeville, Pa.) grabbed a team-high six rebounds in the win.
     After shooting just 38.7% in the first half, Pitt-Johnstown got hot and connected on 57.7% in the second half to finish the game shooting 47.4% (27-57).  The Lady Cats also hit on 20-29 from the charity stripe.  Pitt-Johnstown held Lock Haven to just 36.2% (21-58) shooting.  The Lady Eagles, who out rebounded Pitt-Johnstown 42-31, made eight three-pointers and shot 8-13 from the free-throw line.
     Lauren Kelshaw scored 17 points to lead Lock Haven.  Katie Kendall added nine points, while Sharay Hall had a game-high nine rebounds for the Lady Eagles, who fell to 3-6 on the season.
     The Lady Cats travel to WVIAC rival Shepherd (WV) University on Saturday, before returning to the Sports Center to host Fairmont State (WV) University on Jan. 10 at 5:30 p.m. as part of a WVIAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats.
