Scott Morgan Places Third at WVU Open
11/15/08...Senior Scott Morgan (North Huntingdon, Pa.) posted a 5-1 record that included two decisions, two major decisions and an injury default on his way to earning a third-place finish at 125 lbs. at Saturday's West Virginia University Open.
Morgan opened the tournament with a 5-2 decision over University of Pittsburgh's Chris Kochinsky, before suffering an 8-2 loss to Gabe Ramos (Ohio University). However, Morgan rebounded to win his next four matches, including a 3-1 decision over Koshinsky in the Third Place bout.
Freshman Keith Ryan (Shirleysburg, Pa.) posted a 2-2 record with two falls at 157 lbs., while Dan Maiorano (125 lbs.) (Lewisburg, Pa.), Doug Maiorano (125 lbs.) (Lewisburg, Pa.), Matt Scherich (133 lbs.) (West Finley, Pa.) and Phil Slaugh (Hanover, Pa.) were all 0-2.
The Mountain Cats open the dual meet schedule at West Liberty State (WV) College on Friday and at West Virginia Tech University on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown will make its 2008-09 home debut on Wednesday, December 3 when nationally-ranked University of Findlay (OH) visits the Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.
