Willow Hall - the New Student Residence Facility

At the Pitt-Johnstown Student Senate meeting last evening, President Etheridge announced the results of the student vote to name the new student residence facility. The new facility will be named Willow Hall.

Willow Hall was chosen from a ballot of 6 possible names (including Birch, Chestnut, Evergreen, Juniper and Sycamore) by the Pitt-Johnstown student body utilizing the first-ever online student voting process. The Pitt-Johnstown Student Senate promoted the election with their point.click.pick campaign that resulted in the largest student election participation in recent years.

The 35,200 square foot facility will include 24 student apartments with 109 beds, as well as one apartment for the resident director. Each apartment will have two full bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchenette. The three-story residence hall will include a central common space for television lounge, lobby, laundry, and conference rooms.

The cost of the building is $4,922,000 and is another progressive addition to the $20 million invested into physical improvements to both academic facilities and residence halls since 1996.
