vs. Davis & Elkins (WV) College - 09/20/08

Volleyball Dealt 3-1 Home Loss By Davis & Elkins
     09/20/08...Kelly Miller (Stoystown, Pa.) and Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) each had six kills for Pitt-Johnstown, but Davis & Elkins (WV) College stormed backed after an opening game loss to defeat the Lady Cats 3-1 in a non-conference match, Saturday afternoon in the Sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown is now 7-6 overall.
     After winning game one 26-24, Head Coach Linda Renzi's Lady Cats lost the next three games 16-25, 21-25, 21-25.
     Along with Miller and Irwin, Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) had five kills, while Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) and Taylor King (York, Pa.) collected 18 and nine assists, respectively.  Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) and Kayla Lape (Fishertown, Pa.) chipped in four kills and two block assists, and Sierra Steele (Windber, Pa.) added two block solos and three block assists in the loss.
     With the victory, Davis & Elkins raised its record to 6-9.
     Pitt-Johnstown continues a four-match home stretch against West Virginia Wesleyan College on Monday. The Lady Cats will also host Salem International (WV) University on Tuesday and Ohio Valley (WV) University on Thursday.  All three matches will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
