JOB DESCRIPTION:
I am a civil service employee for the government. I work at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. For 21 years, I worked for an organization called Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) doing interior and exterior ballistics analysis. For the last 2 and a half years, I have worked for the firing tables branch. I am employed by Picatinny Arsenal, but still work at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). I do ballistics analysis work and software testing work for NATO projects. Twice a year, NATO meetings are held at APG and I attend the meetings.
NEATEST PROJECT OR ASPECT OF YOUR WORK:
Working on the NATO projects. I do software testing for a project called NABK (NATO BALLISTICS KERNAL). The data from this project is used by our soldiers fighting in the field to help them determine firing parameters.
ADIVICE OR COMMENTS:
Be patient when applying for positions. It took me 3 years from the time I graduated to find my current position. Aberdeen Proving Ground is one organization that hires quite a few Mathematicians. Good Luck in your search.
