Volleyball Sweeps West Liberty State For First WVIAC Win
09/10/08...Sophomore outside hitter Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had 12 kills to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep over West Liberty State (WV) College, Wednesday night in the Sports Center. With the victory, Pitt-Johnstown improved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in WVIAC play.
The Lady Cats defeated the Hilltoppers 25-23, 25-21, 25-19.
Along with Hrescak's 12 kills, junior middle hitter Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) chipped in seven kills, and freshman middle hitter Sierra Steele (Windber, Pa.) added four block assists. Senior setter Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 16 assists.
With the loss, West Liberty State dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Pitt-Johnstown hosts WVIAC matches against Glenville State (WV) College on Friday and Shepherd (WV) University on Tuesday. Both matches will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
