Lady Cat Volleyball Falls at Davis & Elkins in WVIAC Play
09/06/08...Junior middle hitter Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) tallied six kills and five block assists, but head coach Linda Renzi's Lady Cat volleyball team suffered a 3-games-to-0 sweep at Davis & Elkins (WV) College in WVIAC play, Saturday night. With the loss, Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the WVIAC.
Davis & Elkins defeated the Lady Cats 25-20, 25-23, 25-18.
Along with Irwin's efforst, junior outside hitter Nicole Houser (Penn Runn, Pa.) added a team-high eight kills, and senior setter Merissa Larrew (Irwin, Pa.) had 11 assists. Junior outside hitter Abbey Gearhart (Salix, Pa.) collected 13 digs in the loss.
With the sweep, the Senators raised their to record to 4-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Pitt-Johnstown hosts WVIAC matches against West Liberty State (WV) College on Wednesday and Glenville State (WV) College on Friday. Both matches will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
