Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Seton Hill Classic
08/30/08...Head coach Erin Eaton's Lady Cat cross country team opened the 2008 season with a fifth place finish at Saturday's Seton Hill University Classic. The Lady Cats, who ran the event in 2:32.59, were led by Samantha Akers' (Leesburg, VA) 31st place finish. Seton Hill won the meet with a with a time of 1:49.00.
Akers finished 31st with a time of 28:08.97, just ahead of Jamie Gennett (Davidsville, Pa.), who placed 32nd at 28:09.82. Taylor Griffith (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) was 34th (29:05.39), followed by Sarah Cordek (Davidsville, Pa.) (35th, 30:03.94) and Monae Baker (Bushkill, Pa.) (40th, 37:31.67).
The Griffins won the meet with 21 points (1:49.00). Penn State-Altoona was second with 51 points (1:36.13), followed by Fairmont State (WV) University (79 points, 2:07:37), West Liberty State (WV) College (92 points, 2:12.41) and PITT-JOHNSTOWN (124 POINTS, 2:32.59).
