The Chemistry Department offers courses in all areas of chemistry including biochemistry. Students may elect the Chemistry major (B.S.), the Chemistry/Biology dual major, certification to teach high school chemistry (through the Education Division) or a minor in Chemistry. The program also offers students the necessary chemistry courses for preparation for enrollment in pharmacy programs.
Students in chemistry have many opportunities to participate in research and/or engage in internships. See the Faculty web pages for more information about individual research projects. Students present their results at the annual Symposium for Academic and Creative Enquiry, UPJ SPACE.
The program prepares students for employment at the baccalaureate-degree level, for graduate study, or for professional programs in health-related areas.
