 Dr. James Gyure   Dr. James F.  Gyure has been named Vice President for Enrollment Services and Planning at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.  His appointment was announced by Pitt-Johnstown President Jem Spectar.

    Dr. Gyure will be responsible for directing strategic planning efforts at the school and will oversee enrollment and student success initiatives.  He will have oversight and supervisory responsibility for the offices of Admissions, Adult and Continuing Education, Financial Aid, Marketing, and Registrar. 

    In announcing Dr. Gyure’s appointment, President Spectar stated, “Through his exemplary leadership, Dr. Gyure has strengthened our enrollment management efforts in an increasingly competitive environment.  In addition to a strong record of excellence in recruiting, admissions, financial aid, and marketing, Dr. Gyure possesses an in-depth knowledge of contemporary approaches to strategic planning.  As Vice President for Enrollment Services and Planning, he will oversee a broad range of planning and assessment initiatives aimed at implementing our New Dimension of Excellence Strategic Plan and enhancing institutional effectiveness.”
 
    Dr. Gyure’s professional activities include presentations at conferences conducted by the American Marketing Association’s Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education, the College Board, the National Association of College Admissions Counseling, and the National Resource Center for the First Year Experience and Students in Transition, as well as publications including the Journal of Marketing for Higher Education, and the College Board Review. He is a member of a number of professional associations, including the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the AEJMC journal, The Journalism and Mass Communication Educator.
 
    An active member of the campus community for more than three decades, Dr. Gyure has worked on many Pitt-Johnstown committees, served two terms as President of the Pitt-Johnstown Alumni Association, and is a charter member, past-Vice President and past-President of the Pitt-Johnstown chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. He holds a BA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Gyure earned a PhD in Mass Communications/Media Studies from the Pennsylvania State University.
