I am pleased to announce the promotions of two long-term staff members, Jeanne Susko and Stephanie Korber.
Jeanne Susko, senior coordinator of Outreach Programs, is now serving as Director of the reorganized Community Education and Outreach department. Formerly operating under the name Outreach and Professional Services, the new department will coordinate the campus’ personal and professional development non-credit programs and will be responsible for developing and expanding community partnerships. In addition to programs including the Help, Understanding, Guidance and Support (HUGS) Program, the Great Americans Day Citizenship Forum, and Project Click Safe™, Community Education and Outreach will continue to administer educational youth programs including the SAT Super Series, the Learning, Enrichment and Recreation Network (LEARN) Program, and the Junior Naturalist Outdoor Adventure Camp.
Mrs. Susko has demonstrated great leadership capacity and very strong organizational ability during a career at Pitt-Johnstown that spans three decades. Her exemplary record of service to the community will enable our campus to strengthen existing relationships and pursue new opportunities.
Mrs. Susko began her career at Pitt-Johnstown in 1974 in the office of Admissions and Student Aid and later moved to the office of Housing and Residence Life, where she was employed for six years. Following a brief hiatus from Pitt-Johnstown, Mrs. Susko worked as a temporary consultant in the office of Housing & Residence Life and the Registrar's office. During this time, she also worked part-time in the Student Aid and Continuing Education offices. She is a cum laude graduate of Pitt-Johnstown with a BA in Communication.
A recipient of the 2005 President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service to the Community, Mrs. Susko serves on the boards of the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, Women’s Information Network, and Women’s Help Center. She is also an active member of the planning committee for the upcoming Richland Community Days celebration.
Stephanie Korber, coordinator of Adult Education, is appointed to the position of Director of Adult and Continuing Education. Mrs. Korber will direct the newly realigned unit, formerly known as Adult Education. In her new role, Mrs. Korber will be responsible for adult undergraduate educational programs and will serve as administrative liaison to the University of Pittsburgh for graduate programming offered through the John P. and Joyce Murtha Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development. The Center currently offers a highly successful Master of Social Work Program in partnership with the School of Social Work. Mrs. Laura Perry Thompson is the MSW Program Coordinator at Pitt-Johnstown.
Mrs. Korber has been instrumental in maintaining Pitt-Johnstown’s commitment to lifelong learning throughout her extensive career. She has demonstrated a deep commitment to the needs of our adult students through her solid academic advising and student advocacy.
Mrs. Korber began her career at Pitt-Johnstown in 1981 as the assistant director of Continuing Education. She is an active member of several national professional organizations including the Learning Resources Network, and the Association for Continuing Higher Education. She received her BA in Sociology from Pitt-Johnstown.
Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Susko and Mrs. Korber!
