Loans are monies that you and/or your parent will repay with interest over a specified period of time. Often, students are not eligible for grant monies, but they still need funding for college. Loan programs are the answer. They allow you and your parents to finance an education that may not have otherwise been affordable. When borrowing, you should consider how you will be able to manage your debt once you enter into repayment. Generally, a manageable level of debt is equal to 8% to 15% of your monthly gross income. Also, please be aware that the general repayment period is 10 years, but may be longer if you consolidate your loan.
