President's Award for Excellence in Service 2003
Article Body
I am pleased to announce that Bruce G. Haselrig, Sr. was awarded the President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service. This award was established in 1999 by the President to recognize staff for exemplary service to the UPJ community and to the community in which they live. Nominations and recommendations are received by a committee peers. Based on their review of available documents the committee then recommends up to three individuals to the President for his consideration. Bruce joined UPJ in 1972 as the Assistant to the Dean of Student Life. He has faithfully and consciously provided UPJ students with an environment they enjoy, in which their talents flourish and where they feel safe and comfortable. Bruce never refuses to take on additional assignments and has always been willing to assume responsible committee assignments.
Bruce’s involvement in the Greater Johnstown Community is exemplary. For decades, Bruce has committed his time and talents to making his community a place where everyone would want to live. The quality of his community work has earned him much deserved recognition and many awards. The following is a snapshot of Bruce’s volunteerism:
Bruce is recognized on-campus as the person willing to invest time and effort. It is not unusual to find Bruce in the Student Union or the Sports Center, late in the evening or on weekends, preparing for a student event. His investment in the success of UPJ and especially the success of UPJ students is a reflection of his values and commitment
