Article Body: I am pleased to announce that Dr. Donna L. Kowalczyk, instructor in the Education Division, has received the 2003 Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society's "Instructor of the Year" award. The organization solicits nominations from its upper-classmen and a selection committee, composed solely of student members. The nominations are evaluated and a recipient is chosen. The award is especially meaningful because it comes directly from outstanding students.

Dr. Kowalczyk was nominated by Steven Yanni who presented the award to her at a ceremony on April 12, 2003. The honor society invites its members to write an essay of nomination for any professor at UPJ. Dr. Kowalczyk was described as a positive role model and caring person who is always willing to help students and listen when someone needs an ear to bend. Her dedication, content knowledge, sound moral character, and perseverance in recently completing her doctoral studies were cited as important qualities valued by the students.
