Dr. Rodney H. Eatman Receives Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award
Article Body
I am pleased to announce that one of our faculty; Dr. Rodney H. Eatman has been selected to receive the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Eatman has served as a member of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's Theatre Faculty since 1978. Prior to joining UPJ, he was a member of the theatre faculty at Southwest Texas State University and at Lon Morris College.
This honor recognizes Rodney's 24 years of teaching and mentoring students in all aspects of theatre at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Without question, Rodney enables students to achieve more than they believed themselves capable of, and his students attribute their newly-developed confidence to his caring for individuals and love for learning.
Rodney has been the heart and driving force of the UPJ Theatre Department. Our campus has benefited immensely from his dedication and skillful teaching.
Rodney has directed more than one hundred full-length productions during his career. His experience spans the classics, large-scale musicals, and premier performances of new scripts. He personally has acted in performances at Southwest Texas State University, the University of Michigan, the University of Texas, Baylor University, the Mountain Playhouse, and the Fondren Street Theatre (Houston).
Additionally, Dr. Eatman has written several plays that have been produced, and he remains active in the performing arts community in the Greater Johnstown Region.
