All Environmental Studies majors must complete an internship or comparable alternative field experience for academic credit [3 to 12 credits]. Most internships are full time, and most occur during the summer. Many are paid. Some lead directly to full time positions after graduation; all must provide experience in environmentally-related areas. Expect to begin making arrangements one to two terms in advance of the desired start date; many summer internships have January or February application deadlines. Speak with your faculty advisor about choosing an internship that corresponds to your interests and abilities. All internships are undertaken in conjunction with a faculty supervisor, and the faculty member’s approval of the internship must be obtained prior to registering for internship credits.
