Baseball Breaks Single-Season Win Mark With 9-4, 8-2 Sweep at Ohio Valley
     04/26/08...Head Coach Todd Williams' Mountain Cat baseball team, ranked #3 in the North Atlantic Region, earned a 9-4 and 8-2 sweep at Ohio Valley (WV) University Saturday night to improve to 35-15-1 and break the school's single-season win mark for the eight time in the last 11 years.  Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.) hit two homeruns and drove in six in the opener, before adding his fourth homerun of the series in the nightcap.
     Pitt Johnstown broke the single-season win mark set in 2006 when the team posted a 33-18 record and advanced to its first NCAA Regional Tournament.
     Hanley wrapped up the three-game series 7-12 at the plate with four homeruns, 14 RBIs and seven runs.  As a team, Pitt Johnstown hit nine homeruns and outscored Ohio Valley 31-10 in the three-game series.
     In Saturday's opener, Hanley went 3-for-4 with two homeruns, six RBIs and two runs scored, while Josh Campanella (Allison, Pa.) and Matt Petrowsky (Johnstown, Pa.) each had two hits, including a double.  Senior right hander David Huey (Glen Campbell, Pa.) tossed a complete-game seven hitter to raise his record to 6-2.  Huey allowed four runs and struck out three, while walking none.
     In game two, the Mountain Cats belted four more homeruns, including a pair of solo shots of the bat of PetrowskyDan DelSignore (Johnstown, Pa.) and Hanley also hit homers.  Petrowsky and Hanley both had two hits and drove in two, while Adam Plummer (Bellwood, Pa.), Ron Stenger (Johnstown, Pa.) and DelSignore collected two hits apiece.  Freshman Kaleb Fleck (Claysburg, Pa.) earned the win and improved to 6-2.  Fleck surrendered two runs on three hits and fanned seven in six innings of work.  
     With the loss, Ohio Valley dropped to 11-34 on the season.
     Pitt Johnstown will host the 2008 WVIAC Baseball Championships at the Point Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
