Mountain Cats Tie Single-Season Win Record With 14-4 Victory at Ohio Valley
04/25/08...The Mountain Cats belted three homeruns, and got a grand slam and six RBIs from Matt Hanley (Delmont, Pa.) in a 14-4 win at Ohio Valley (WV) University on Friday. With the victory, Pitt Johnstown tied the school record for wins in a season set in 2006 and improved to 33-15-1.
Hanley finished the day 3-for-5 with a grand slam and six RBI, while Matt Petrowsky (Johnstown, Pa.) had four hits, including a solo homerun, two doubles and a pair of RBI. Chris Turka (Natrona Heights, Pa.) hit a solo homer, while Dan Mangini (Lower Burrell, Pa.) drove in three runs. Junior right hander Ben Watkins (Johnstown, Pa.) earned the win and improved to 4-2 after pitching three scoreless inning in relief of Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.). Watkins surrendered just two hits and struck out four. Moore, who got a no-decision, surrendered four unearned runs and four hits. Moore also fanned five.
With the loss, Ohio Valley dropped to 11-32 on the season.
