It is the mission of PITT-Johnstown to offer a high quality educational experience in a supportive living/learning environment that is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, that is current, and that is responsive both to our student's personal and professional needs and our communities’ needs.

The University's rigorous in and out of class curricula guide students to be disciplined, informed thinkers who respect the views of others and possess a lifetime love of learning to prepare them for the Real World. Through its staff, services and operations, the Office of Housing and Residence Life shares these goals:

  • Promote Diversity by modeling behaviors and encouraging the development and support of initiatives that foster respect for and understanding of self and others.
  • Support the Academic Mission by modeling good academic and professional habits and providing in-hall program development and facility improvement.
  • Foster Personal Responsibility by modeling and addressing community standards and conduct within residential communities; by engaging students in service to others.
  • Encourage Healthy Relationships by modeling good communication skills, respect for others and self, and promoting civil resolutions to conflicts.
  • Manage its programs and services in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Improve Effectiveness by establishing a regular schedule of assessment activities to gather data on student needs and satisfaction.
