Article Body

I am delighted to report that Dr. John McGrath  is a recipient of the 2008 Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award.  He was one of five faculty members from throughout the entire University of Pittsburgh system to receive this prestigious honor. Dr. John McGrath

Dr. McGrath, who joined the UPJ faculty in 1994, was recognized for his synergistic teaching approach that integrates theory, research and real-world applications.  His strong commitment to educational excellence is most evident in the success of his students.  Regularly, Dr. McGrath involves his students in service-learning projects that provide them with valuable experience while offering significant benefits to the community.

Dr. McGrath earned his bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame, majoring in both marketing and communications.  He holds a master’s degree in marketing and real estate development from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and earned his doctorate at Penn State.

In addition to his work in the classroom, Dr. McGrath is very involved in helping local government, economic development and non-profit groups.  Each year, he is a driving force behind the development of  the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Climate Survey Report.  In 1998, Dr. McGrath received the UPJ Advisory Board's Service-to-Community Award for his civic involvement.  Please join me in congratulating our esteemed colleague.
