Vice President of Finance and Administration

The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ) invites applications for the position of Vice President of Finance and Administration.  UPJ is a comprehensive, four-year undergraduate campus of the University of Pittsburgh System offering 40 majors and minors in the liberal arts as well as professional programs.  The UPJ is located on 650 uniquely picturesque acres, 70 miles east of Pittsburgh in the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania.  Pitt-Johnstown offers a supportive living-learning environment, that is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, that is current, and responsive both to our students’ personal and professional needs, and to our communities’ needs.  The VP of Finance and Administration serves as the chief business officer of the University in the areas of Budget and Operations at the Johnstown Campus. Position reports directly to the Campus President and serves on the President's Cabinet. Supports the mission of the University and provides effective administrative leadership by managing the accounting and financial operations, Human Resources, Student Accounts, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Facilities Management, Bookstore and Conference Services. Serves as liaison to University administrators in Business/Finance, Audit and Human Resources. Responsible for the development of annual campus budget, implementation of audit and financial controls, capital budget and facilities planning and support for long range and strategic planning initiatives. Works closely with the UPJ Advisory Board and serves as an Officer of the Johnstown Campus Educational Foundation.  

 

Qualifications preferred are a Master's degree in finance, business or a related field of study and higher education experience.  Strong accounting background is required, CPA preferred.  Consideration will be given to individuals with both a Bachelor's degree and a CPA license or other combination of relevant experience in higher education. Excellent leadership skills; an excellent background in financial planning and fiscal operations; excellent communication skills; a proven ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies. Demonstrated high standards in personal and professional integrity. At least seven years of significant, successful and progressively responsible administrative leadership experience related to financial management in a complex organization, preferably in a university setting. Must also demonstrate extensive experience in budget development, government and business accounting, personnel management, financial strategic planning as well as experience in risk management, contracts and procurement, the use of technology in administrative systems applications and the development of community and business partnerships.  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
