Are you looking for a way to chase those winter blues away? The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown Office of Outreach and Professional Services is offering over 30 fun-filled ways to help.
“Saturday Cartoon Alternatives for Kids” features fun and educational courses for children five years and older. Exciting hands-on courses will introduce children to science, math, theatre, art, and music through courses including “Puppet Theatre,” “Musical Theatre,” “Math Madness,” “Paper Capers,” “Crazy Creative Cards,” “Myth Busters,” “Theatre Time Adventure,” “The World’s Best Science Tricks,” and “Teen Theatre.”
Adults can explore new hobbies, acquire new skills, or improve the mind and body in “Purposeful Pastimes for Grown Ups” and the “Mind and Body” programs. Exciting first-time offerings include “Introduction to Sailing,” “Spring Rag Wreath,” “Meditative Movements,” and “Water Yoga.” Some of the perennial favorites include “The Joy of Oil Painting,” “Buying a Digital Camera,” “Digital Photography,” and “Ebay for Beginners.”
Offered in partnership with the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, “The Bottle Works Series” features a number of adult courses including “Pierogi Making,” “Holiday Breads,” “Ethnic Soup Extravaganza,” “Homemade Nut Rolls” and “Ukrainian Pysanky Egg Art.” Children will enjoy “Rolling in the Dough: Pretzel Pizzazz” and “Storytelling from Around the Globe.”
