#8 Wrestlers Roll to 36-10 Win at Seton Hill
     02/02/08...The Pitt-Johnstown wrestling team, ranked #8 in NCAA Division II, used falls from Shane Valko (141 lbs.) (Windber, Pa.), Kyle Keane (165 lbs.) (Clearfield, Pa.) and #7 Albert Miles (174 lbs.) (Canonsburg, Pa.) to earn a 36-10 victory at Seton Hill University, Saturday afternoon.  With the win, Head Coach Pat Pecora's Mountain Cats improved to 15-5 overall.
     Derrek Bosso (Pequea, Pa.) got the Mountain Cats going with an 11-3 major decision over Ken Trumbetta at 125 lbs.  The Griffins quickly tied the match with their own major decision victory at 133 lbs.  However, Valko pinned Buck Watkins at 4:25, and Adam Whetstone (Claysburg, Pa.) won a tight 3-2 decision over Josh Voelker at 149 lbs. to increase the lead to 13-4.
     Once again, Seton Hill responded with a win when Bill Landefeld scored a 3-1 overtime decision over Dan Simon (Fox Chapel, Pa.) at 157 lbs. to cut the deficit to 13-7.  That was as close as the Griffins would get, as Keane recorded a fall at 1:32 over Qaude Miller at 165 lbs. and Miles pinned Lewis Spadaro in :29 to put Pitt-Johnstown up, 25-7.  Mike Corcetti (Export, Pa.) the #3-ranked wrestler at 184 lbs., won by forfeit, and #6 Patrick Walsh (197 lbs.) (Leesport, Pa.) won an 18-1 techincal fall over Stephen Zubach, increasing the lead to 36-7 with one bout remaining.  The Griffins then set the final score at 36-10 when Matt Galadyk defeated Nathan Tomporoski (Natrona Heights, Pa.), 8-6, in the heavyweight bout. 
     The Mountain Cats return home to host West Liberty State (WV) College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., before hosting #15 Mercyhurst College for Senior Night on Friday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sports Center.
