at Wilkes University Open - 12/28/07

Shane Valko Wins Title at Wilkes Open;
10 Wrestlers Finish in Top-Four

     12/28/07...Junior National Qualifier and #7-ranked Shane Valko (Windber, Pa.) earned a 5-2 decision over New York University's Steven Hult to win the championship at 141 lbs. and lead 10 Mountain Cat wrestlers who finished in the Top-Four at Friday's 2007 Wilkes University Open.
     Head Coach Pat Pecora also had three wrestlers score runner-up finishes.  Two-time All-American and #2-ranked Brandon Reasy (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.), sophomore Kyle Keane (165 lbs.) (Clearfield, Pa.) and three-time All-American and #3-ranked Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.) all placed second.  Reasy and Keane both suffered decision losses in the title bouts of their weight classes, while Corcetti defaulted following his victory in the semifinals.
     2007 All-American and #3-ranked Derrek Bosso (125 lbs.) (Pequea, Pa.), 2006 All-American and #6-ranked Albert Miles (174 lbs.) (Canonsburg, Pa.), red-shirt freshman Nathan Murin (184 lbs.) (Washington, Pa.) and sophomore Pat Walsh (197 lbs.) (Leesport, Pa.) all placed third. 
     Junior Scott Morgan (125 lbs.) (North Huntingdon, Pa.) and red-shirt freshman Steve Makin (174 lbs.) (Portage, Pa.) finished fourth for the Mountain Cats.  

     Pitt Johnstown will kick-off the second semester at home on Saturday, January 5, at 1:00 p.m. when East Region rival Kutztown University visits the Sports Center.
