Freshman and Sophomore years - pursue curriculum in consultation with advisor, volunteer and shadow to gain experience, extracurricular activities (Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, Chemical Society, Student Government, community service, etc.), and access guidelines available for various professions.
Junior year - research schools and special requirements, check registration deadlines and register for admission exams, schedule Preprofessional Committee interview (details from Dr. Rebecca Webb, E&S 214, 269-2913)and Ms. Nancy Brunberg, E&S 116, 269-2900) and arrange preparation of letters of recommendation (after Jan. 1 but before the end of March)
Summer after Junior year – apply for professional school. Retake admissions exams if test scores are low. Application to professional schools should occur as early in the admissions process as possible. Application at this time is for admission during the fall of the following calendar year.
Senior year - complete degree requirements. Preliminary admission screening, requests for secondary application and letters and interviews will begin during the fall term. Admission announcements typically begin occurring early in the spring term and continue until the end of the school year.
