Albert Miles Places Third at Penn State Open
12/02/07...Mountain Cat senior All-American Albert Miles (Canonsburg, Pa.) posted a 5-1 record on his way to a third place finish at 174 lbs. at Sunday's Division I-dominated Penn State Nittany Lion Open.
Miles advanced to the semifinals before suffering a 6-1 loss to Penn State's Mark Friend. In the Third Place match, Miles won by media forfeit over Shippensburg's Chris Barrick. Overall, Miles recorded one fall, one major decision, two decisions and a medical forfeit.
Along with Miles, senior two-time All-American Brandon Reasy (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.) was 4-2, while three-time All-American Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.) and 2007 National Qualifier Chris Dempsey (HWT.) (Sewickley, Pa.) and sophomore Kyle Keane (165 lbs.) (Clearfield, Pa.) were all 3-2. Sophomore National Qualifier Shane Valko (141 lbs.) (Windber, Pa.) posted a 2-1 record. All-American Derrek Bosso (125 lbs.) (Pequea, Pa.) and sophomore Patrick Walsh (Leesport, Pa.) both had 2-2 records.
This year's Nittany Lion Open featured over 800 wrestlers.
The Mountain Cats travel to Shippensburg University on Wednesday. Pitt Johnstown’s next home match will take place on Saturday, January 5, at 1:00 p.m. when East Region rival Kutztown University visits the Sports Center.
