Corcetti and Walsh Place Fourth at East Stroudsburg Open
11/18/07...Pitt Johnstown three-time All-American Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.) and sophomore Patrick Walsh (Leesport, Pa.) each earned fouth place finishes at Saturday's 2007 East Stroudsburg University Wrestling Open.
Corcetti, ranked #3 in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Preseason Poll, posted a 3-2 record that included a pair of decisions over Princeton's Anthony Salerno and Shippensburg's Jonathan Hade and a 17-4 major decision over Gardner's Webb's Matthias Piasecki . After advancing to the semifinals, Corcetti suffered a 14-6 loss to John Barone (Duke), before Virginia Tech's Matt Ryan eanred an 8-4 win in the third place bout.
Walsh opened to tournament with three straight decision victories to reach the semis, before finishing fourth. Walsh scored decision wins over Keith McDonald (Millersville), MikeBossetta (Columbia) and Ben Hepburn (Lock Haven).
The Mountain Cats will host their first dual meet of the 2007-08 season when NCAA Division I American (D.C.) University visits the Sports Center on November 28 at 7:00 p.m.
