#5 Wrestlers Open Season With Seven Champions at W&J Open;
Corcetti Earns 100th Career Win and Reasy Named Outstanding Wrestler
     11/04/07...Head Coach Pat Pecora and the #5-ranked Mountain Cat wrestlers opened the 2007-08 season in fine fashion with seven champions, including Mike Corcetti (184 lbs.) (Export, Pa.), who earned his 100th career victory, and Brandon Reasy (133 lbs.) (New Enterprise, Pa.), who was tabbed the Outstanding Wrestler, at Sunday's Washington & Jefferson Collegiate Open.
     In all, 16 Mountain Cats placed in the top-four in the 10 weight classes.
     Corcetti, a three-time All-American, posted a 4-0 record to become the 18th Mountain Cat to reach the 100-victory plateau, while Reasy, a two-time All-American, was also 4-0 with four falls to earn the Oustanding Wrestler Award.
     Senior All-American Derrek Bosso (Pequea, Pa.) won the title at 125 lbs., and 2007 National Qualifier Shane Valko (Windber, Pa.) defeated freshman Nathan Link (Cresson, Pa.), who wrestled unattached, in the final bout at 141 lbs.  Sophomore Ryan McIntyre (Claysburg, Pa.) earned a 5-2 win over teammate Adam Whetstone (Claysburg, Pa.) in the championship bout at 157 lbs., while 2006 All-American Albert Miles (174 lbs.) (Canonsburg, Pa.) placed first at 174 lbs.  A Mountain Cat also claimed the championship at heavyweight when Zach Majocha (Lower Burrell, Pa.), wrestling unattached, beat 2007 National Qualifier Chris Dempsey (Sewickley, Pa.) in the title bout.
     Coach Pecora also got a runner-up finish from freshman Zach Lundgren (Dubois, Pa.) wrestling unattached at 165 lbs. and third place finishes from freshman Cody Myers (unattached at 141 lbs.) (Three Spring, Pa.) senior Rob Sakmar (174 lbs.) (Johnstown, Pa.), red-shirt freshman Nathan Murin (184 lbs.) (Washington, Pa.) and sophomore Patrick Walsh (197 lbs.) (Lesport, Pa.).  Freshman Damian Majocha (unattached at 174 lbs.) (Lower Burrell, Pa.) placed fourth.
     The Mountain Cats will host their first dual meet of the 2007-08 season when NCAA Division I American (D.C.) University visits the Sports Center on November 28 at 7:00 p.m.
