Troubleshooting

I am having a connection problem. What should I do?

If you are experiencing wireless connection problems, please try these steps:

  1. Make sure you are in an area where Wireless PittNet service is available.
  2. Make sure you have configured your machine correctly.
  3. Make sure you have typed your username and password correctly.
  4. If the above steps do not work, try restarting your computer.

If the steps above do not resolve the problem, please call the Technology Support Desk at 269-7160 for assistance.

I am having a reception problem. What should I do?

If you are experiencing wireless reception problems, please try these steps:

  1. Make sure you are in an area where Wireless PittNet service is available.
  2. Try moving your computer a few feet in any direction. Move away from large metal or masonry obstructions such as shelves and walls.
  3. If the above steps do not work, try restarting your computer.

If the steps above do not resolve the problem, please call the Technology Support Desk at 269-7160 for assistance.

I’m having trouble connecting to another wireless network (for example, at home or at a coffee shop).  What do I need to do?

You will probably have to re-configure your computer to use a different wireless service. Keep in mind that many public wireless networks do not provide the same level of security as Wireless PittNet, and that the configuration instructions may be significantly different. .
