10/24/07...Head Coach Crystal Dye's Pitt Johnstown women's soccer team traveled to the University of Charleston (WV) for Wednesday's 2007 regular season finale and suffered a 4-0 loss. Despite the loss, Pitt Johnstown, 8-12-0 overall and 4-9-0 in the WVIAC, secured the #3 seed in the WVIAC Northern Division and will travel to Souther Division #2 Concord (WV) University for Tuesday's First Round of the WVIAC Tournament.
Charleston jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead on back-to-back goals by Taryn Conklin in the sixth and 23rd minutes, and a goal by Sharon Lapinsky off of an assist from Holli Dalton in the 36th minute. The Golden Eagles then set the final score at 3-0 on Lapinsky's second goal of the match in the 53rd minute.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Paha (Slicksville, Pa.) faced 13 shots and made five saves, but fell to 6-9-0. Charleston goalkeeper Whitney Sharpe saw eight shots and made three saves to earn the shutout.
With the win, the Golden Eagles improved to 7-12-0 overall and 7-6-0 in WVIAC play.
Pitt Johnstown will travel to Concord (WV) University on Tuesday for the First Round of the 2007 WVIAC Tournament. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
