2006-07 Season
Matt provided a spark from the outside of the Mountain Cat bench. In 29 games played, he averaged 4.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Matt shot 43.6% (48-110) from the field, 32.7% (18-55) from behind the three-point line and 73.3% (11-15) from the free-throw line. His 18 three-pointers ranked fourth on the team. He scored in double-figures five times, pulled down three or more rebounds 10 times and dished out two or more assists nine times. In two seasons, Matt has recorded career-highs of 14 points and six rebounds against Penn State-New Kensington on 01/15/07 and four assists against Penn State-Greater Allegheny on 01/30/07.
2005-06 Season
In 17 games (eight minutes per game) played, Matt averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. He also added eight assists and nine steals. Matt shot 31.8% (14-44) from the field, 38.9% (7-18) from behind the three-point line and 66.7% (4-6) from the free-throw line. Matt recorded season-highs of 12 points against the University of District of Columbia on 11/19/06, four rebounds against Columbia Union (MD) College on 01/07/06 and three assists against Penn State-Harrisburg on 12/09/06.
At Penn Hills High School
Matt was a four-year letterman and two-year team captain for Head Coach Jim Rocco at Penn Hills High School. Matt averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and 4.5 assists per game as a senior in leading Penn Hills to the 2004 Pennsylvania AAAA State Championship. He also led his team to two Section Championships and a WPIAL title. Ionadi, who scored over 1,300 points and pulled down over 800 rebounds in his high school career, was named All-WPIAL, All-Section and All-East Fab 5 following the 2003-04 season. In addition, he was selected to play in the 2004 Pittsburgh Hoops Classic and the Pittsburgh vs. Canada All-Star Game. Matt was a member of Who’s Who Among High School Students and Who’s Who in Sports. Matt also played tight end on the Penn Hills playoff football team.
