Regional Higher Education Study
Article Body
In an effort to determine both the public awareness and image of our university, we have begun to conduct a regional higher education study targeting a number of audiences in the Johnstown trade area. Among these audiences are neighbors and friends, school districts, government officials, area employers, UPJ Advisory Board members, and UPJ donors. Individuals from each sample group will receive a mail survey pertaining to academic institutions and aspects of higher education.
The surveys used in the study have three significant purposes. First, they will enable us to identify factors that community members feel are important to higher education, such as affordability, academic reputation, and career preparation. Second, the surveys will reveal our status in comparison to other colleges and universities in the region. Finally, survey responses will reflect community members' awareness of and attitudes toward UPJ.
We expect to have the survey results tabulated in March. By determining our present community image, we can more effectively shape future marketing initiatives that enhance our reputation and distinguish us from other higher institutions in the region.
