Article Body: Plans for asbestos removal from Owen Library are ongoing. A brief summary of activity and plans are as follows:

The planned construction will be limited primarily to replacing the roof, removing asbestos, and upgrading the HVAC system.

The (best) projected starting date for the construction is May 1, 2002.

The projected length of construction is a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 18 months.

During the construction phase the library will be closed to all university personnel. All operations within the library will be moved to temporary locations.

Options are now being investigated for temporary housing for the library and other operations housed in the library. No final decision has been reached. A user-friendly location is chief among the factors considered for the temporary location. Please note, classrooms located in Owen Library will not be available beginning May 2002, until September 2003 (at a minimum).
