Ben Sera's Late Goal Leads Men's Soccer to Victory Over Westminster
09/27/07...The Mountain Cat men's soccer team battled a 45-minute thunderstorm delay and a tough Westminster College squad to a scoreless tie, until the 77th minute when Ben Sera (North Huntingdon, Pa.) found the back of the net off of a rebound to give Pitt Johnstown a 1-0 home win, Thursday afternoon.  The Mountain Cats are now 7-3-0.
After play was stopped 12 minutes into the match because of a thunderstorm, the teams finished the first half in a 0-0 tie.  The score remained the same until Sera took a rebound off of Westminster goalkeeper Mike Codita and scored his first goal of the season to lift the Mountain Cats to their second straight victory.
Pitt Johnstown red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Michael LoPresti (Karns City, Pa.) earned his first collegiate win after facing 15 shots and making five saves.  Codita faced 13 Pitt Johnstown shots and made four saves, but suffered the loss.
Westminster fell to 4-4-1 on the season.
The Mountain Cats will host a pair of WVIAC conferences matches against Salem International (WV) University on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and West Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m.
