The University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in more than seven areas of concentration. Because of the design of our programs, most students graduate in four years.
Students begin their coursework as Pre-Education majors. They follow a broad liberal arts curriculum as well as several foundation courses in education. Pre-Education students typically apply to an Upper-Level program during their sophomore year of study. Upon entering an Upper-Level program they become Education Majors in their area of concentration. Faculty and staff support students at each level, thereby providing them a personalized experience throughout their program of study.
Our graduates are noted educators within the profession. While most teach within the state of Pennsylvania, many others teach in schools across the United States. An impressive number of graduates have gone on to pursue graduate studies and to use their Pitt-Johnstown preparation as the foundation for such leadership roles as instructional specialists, supervisors, and administrators.
