Degree Programs in the Humanities

The Division of Humanities offers Baccalaureate degrees in Communication, English Literature, Humanities, Journalism, Theatre Arts, and Writing. Under the major in Humanities, four concentrations are available: World Literature in Translation; Foreign Language and Literature; Philosophy and Literature; Thematic Cluster. Under the major in Writing, students choose one of two emphases: Creative Writing or Professional Writing. Students may also work toward a B.A. in Secondary Education English by applying for admission through the Education Division.

Students may also work toward a minor (18 credits from a list of specified courses) in Creative Writing, English Literature, Foreign Language (French, German, Spanish), or Philosophy. Students majoring in Communication and Journalism are encouraged to serve a 3 to 12 credit internship designed to provide them field experience in the major.
